How signing works

When both parties have published and responded with no new or outstanding suggestions, Divvy's advanced document checker automatically detects that both documents are identical and moves the contract to Ready to Sign. No manual action is needed.

Applying your signature Originating party owners should open the contract from Ready to Sign and click Prepare for Signature. Place the signing fields for both parties, then click Send Contract. Signers on both sides will receive an email notification to sign.

To sign, navigate to the contract, click Sign, and fill in the signature fields that were prepared by the originating owner.

Signers can apply their signature in three ways:

  • Type: type your name

  • Draw: draw your signature

  • Upload: upload a PNG of your signature

Once you complete your signature, you'll be prompted to download the electronic records and signature disclosure. Click agree to finish. Once all required signers have signed, the contract is marked Signed.

Push back

If either party is not satisfied before signing, they can push the contract back to the Contract Workspace. The party who pushed it back will have the turn to make adjustments, and the turn-based negotiation process will continue from there.

For guest signers

Recipients without a Divvy account receive a secure email link. They can sign without creating an account.

💡 A full audit trail of all signature events includes timestamps and IP addresses is recorded in the contract's Activity History.
