How to Create a Contract

Creating a contract in Divvy takes just a few minutes. Here's how to do it from start to finish.
Step 1. Start a new contract
Click Create Contract in the top right corner from My Contracts.
Step 2. Choose a workflow type
You'll be prompted to select one of two workflow types:
Negotiation & E-Signature: the full collaborative experience. You and the other party exchange edits, redline the document back and forth, and sign once both sides are satisfied.
E-Signature Only: skip negotiation. Draft your contract and send it directly to be signed.
Step 3. Fill in contract details
Complete the following fields: contract name, contract type, monetary value, due date, term start and end date, receiving organization name, and parent contract (if this contract is linked to an existing one).
đĄ Your admin can configure up to 20 custom contract type fields to capture additional information specific to your organization.
Step 4. Assign internal users and roles
Add teammates from your organization and assign each one a role:
đ Owner
Publish turns
Manage roles & access
Edit the document
Prepare signature
âī¸ Contributor
Edit the document
Add suggestions
Leave comments
Cannot publish turns
Mark as reviewed
đ Viewer
Read-only access
Cannot make edits or suggestions
Step 5. Add the receiving party
Add users from the other organization and assign their roles as well. You can assign their roles yourself, or leave it for the receiving party to set when they join.
â ī¸ Adding the receiving party at this stage does not notify them. They won't receive any email until you publish the contract.
Step 6. Create the contract
Click Create Contract. Your contract will be created in Draft status and you'll be taken directly to the Contract Workspace to start building.
đĄ You can also import an existing Word document directly into the Contract Workspace instead of starting from scratch.
